Charlie Ryan says “I have never understood the European ruling on agency workers having the same rights as employees. Temporary work is there for a reason and it is to the advantage of the worker and the employer. I do however support where a temporary position is continued for “too long”, ie. where the employer is keeping them on a temporary contract to purposefully avoid offering someone rights. Employee rights in general should kick in after maybe a 6 month period, whether the role remains temporary or not, but our current law allows workers to abuse the situation which often the employer cannot afford!s
